We are a Chicago-based, female-founded and female-run HR and Talent Acquisition consulting firm that fills the role of Head of People/HRBP/HR Generalist/Head of Talent/Recruiter for our clients. While the specific needs of our clients may differ, we specialize in providing HR solutions that help companies maximize their greatest asset – their people. We work with companies of all shapes and sizes, specializing in early stage startups who are looking to scale.
While this is a remote position, at this time, we are currently only considering candidates who are located in IL, WI or MI.
This is a full-time position. The salary range for this role is $100k-$135k, inclusive of base and bonus.
About the Role
We’re looking for you—an unwaveringly positive, hardworking, highly organized, and self-motivated HRIS Consultant. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact by transforming our clients’ technological HR landscapes. You’ll partner closely with their stakeholders to:
- Conduct deep analyses to uncover what they truly need from their HRIS.
- Clearly and effectively communicate these needs to current or prospective HRIS vendors.
- Review and evaluate proposed or existing contracts, ensuring the client gets exactly what they’re paying for—nothing more, nothing less.
- Leverage your technical expertise in HRIS, with a focus on understanding, manipulating, and validating data to guarantee a smooth and seamless implementation or operation.
In this role, you will report to Work Friendly’s Founder and CEO and will play an integral role in contributing to Work Friendly’s success as we continue to grow.
Primary Responsibilities
While no single day will be the same, here are the primary responsibilities of this role, customized to the specific client’s needs:
- Guide clients through the entire HRIS journey, including system selection, implementation, migration, and post-implementation training tailored to employees’ needs.
- Offer expertise across leading HRIS platforms such as Workday, Paycom, Paycor, Paylocity, ADP, UKG, and Rippling.
- Troubleshoot user issues, resolve system-related queries, and provide timely support to ensure seamless operations.
- Partner with HR stakeholders to gather system requirements, define customization needs, and collaborate with HRIS vendors to enhance functionality and user experience.
- Analyze, implement, and configure new HRIS features and modules to meet evolving organizational needs.
- Maintain data integrity by regularly validating system accuracy and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Conduct system audits to identify potential issues, improve efficiency, and optimize overall system performance.
- Deliver user-friendly and engaging training materials and resources for stakeholders at multiple levels.
Additional Responsibilities
As a systems superstar, you’ll from time-to-time jump in on technical HR tasks within payroll, benefits and time management administration for our clients:
- Process payroll, ensuring timely and accurate paychecks for employees.
- Set-up tax locations and ensure compliance with federal, state and local municipalities.
- Set-up and manage benefits administration, including retirement, stock options and other types of fringe benefits.
- Set-up time off codes, including helping clients process leaves of absence compliantly.
- Assess HR policies, procedures, and programs. Recommend, communicate, and oversee implementation of new legislation, internal process, and creative ideas.
Collaborative Support Responsibilities
We’re a small, but mighty team and we’re looking for someone who is willing to occasionally step outside their comfort zone to learn new things about the HR field in order to support their fellow consultants:
- Support Employee Relations issues
- Develop Performance Management Processes
- Create Talent Management Strategies
- Support client culture initiatives, including administering engagement surveys
- Assist with Full-Cycle Recruiting
Required Skills/Experience
- At least 3 years in a role where you were responsible for implementing HRIS platforms
- 7-10 years of overall relevant professional experience, with a preference for generalist HR experience
- Strong understanding of HR functions and processes (recruitment, payroll, benefits, performance management)
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, Paycom, Paycor, Rippling, ADP)
- Excellent Excel, data analysis and reporting skills
- Strong Project Management skills
- Passionate about working in all areas of Human Resources
- Confidence to step into a room with both senior + executive leadership and offer guidance on their HR needs
- Must be a strong networker and connector
- Must be able to work independently as well as enjoy collaboration with fellow HR professionals
- Must be highly organized, self-motivated and excellent at time management
- Strong understanding of compliance concepts that govern an HRIS
- Skilled and engaging trainer, able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users
